Getting Started
What is Pinlyt and what does it do?
Pinlyt is a Chrome Extension that adds advanced analytics capabilities directly inside Pinterest. It gives you 13 tools in a single popup: Top Annotation, Top Boards, Top Pins, Search, Profile Pins, Comapre Boards, Compare Pins, Find Competitors, Pin Analyzer, Account Explorer, Boards Overview, Annotations, My List, and a live Pin Stats Overlay. Together these tools let you research boards, analyze individual pins, audit competitor accounts, and uncover how Pinterest distributes content — all without leaving Pinterest. How do I install Pinlyt?
- Click Add to Chrome on the Chrome Web Store page.
- Confirm the installation in the popup. Pinlyt will appear in your browser toolbar.
- Navigate to Pinterest.com and click the Pinlyt icon to open the dashboard.
- You’re ready to use all 13 tools — no account registration needed for the free plan.
Do I need a Pinterest account to use Pinlyt?
No Pinterest account is required for most features. Pinlyt reads publicly available data directly from Pinterest pages. For best results, have Pinterest open in your browser while using the extension, as it reads data from the active page. You will never be asked for your Pinterest password.Which browsers does Pinlyt support?
Pinlyt is a Chrome Extension compatible with Google Chrome and all Chromium-based browsers including Microsoft Edge and Brave. Firefox and Safari are not currently supported — support for additional browsers is planned for the future. Is Pinlyt safe to use? Will it access my Pinterest account?
Pinlyt only reads publicly available data from Pinterest. It does not store your Pinterest login credentials, does not access your password, and does not transmit your personal data to third parties. All data is processed in your browser during your session. We will never ask for, store, or share your Pinterest account credentials.
Features & Tools
How does Board Search work?
Type any keyword into Board Search and Pinlyt returns up to 99 matching Pinterest boards. You can sort results by Profile Reach, Owner Followers, Pin Count, or Last Modified date. Each result shows the Board ID, Board Name, Owner Name, Owner Username, Board Link, Topic, Category, Pin Count, Profile Reach, Owner Followers, and Last Modified time. You can bulk copy all results or export them to CSV.What data does Search Pins return?
Search Pins finds pins by keyword and returns up to 96+ results. Each pin shows:
- Pin ID and Pin Link
- User who posted it
- Description
- Saves, Repins, Comments, Reactions, Shares
- Total Engagement score
- Created date
- Dominant Color (hex code)
You can sort by Engagement, Saves, Repins, Comments, Reactions, Shares, or Created date — and export everything to CSV.
What does Pin Analyzer show me?
Paste any Pinterest pin URL into Pin Analyzer and it reveals all 10 data fields Pinterest normally hides:
- Saves, Comments, Reactions, Repins, Shares
- Is Repin — whether it’s original or a repin (Yes/No)
- Created — exact creation date
- Domain — the domain of the linked website
- Dominant Color — the primary hex color of the pin image
- Pin Title — the full title of the pin
- Full URL — the complete destination link including UTM parameters
You can copy the data or export to CSV.
What does User Analytics show for a Pinterest profile?
Enter any Pinterest username and User Analytics returns 12 metrics:
- Boards and Pins count
- Followers and Following
- Profile Reach and Profile Views
- Verified Merchant status (Yes/No)
- Domain Verified status (Yes/No)
- Last Pin Save date
- Video Pins, Group Boards, Story Pins counts
What does Boards Overview show?
Enter any Pinterest username and Boards Overview fetches their full board list. At the account level it shows Total Boards, Total Pins, Public Boards, Private Boards, and Average Pins per Board. For each individual board you see the board name, pin count, public or private status, and last pin date. Pro users can bulk copy all boards or export the full list to CSV. Free users see a 30% preview. What are Annotations and why do they matter?
Annotations are keywords that Pinterest internally assigns to a pin to determine how and where it gets distributed across the platform — in feeds, search, and recommendations. They are not the same as hashtags or descriptions added by the user. Each annotation also shows its search volume (e.g. “Coffee Branding — 50.0K”), telling you how many people search for that term on Pinterest. This is data Pinterest does not expose publicly — Pinlyt surfaces it for you so you can understand what topics to target in your own content. How does the Pin Stats Overlay work?
The Pin Stats Overlay shows live metrics directly on top of every pin as you scroll through Pinterest — no clicking required. It displays Saves, Repins, Reactions, Shares, and pin age on each pin in real time. To configure it: open Pinlyt, go to the Settings tab (gear icon), and under Overlay Display toggle it on or off. Under Overlay Size choose Small (compact), Medium (balanced), or Large (maximum visibility). The overlay is available on both free and Pro plans. What is "Dominant Color" in Pin Analyzer and Search Pins?
Dominant Color is the primary hex color value of the pin’s image as determined by Pinterest. For example, a pin with a warm beige aesthetic might show#c2afa4. This is useful for brand consistency research — you can identify which color palettes perform best in your niche and align your own content accordingly when creating pins. How do I export data to CSV?
Every Pinlyt tool has an Export CSV button in its results area. You can also use Copy All to copy the full dataset to your clipboard in the format you’ve selected from the dropdown (e.g. Name + URL, URL + Metrics). CSV export is available on Pro and Lifetime plans. Free plan users can copy individual rows using the per-row Copy button. How many results does each tool return?
- Board Search — up to 99 boards per search
- Search Pins — up to 96+ pins per search
- Pin Analyzer — full data for 1 pin per query
- User Analytics — full profile data for 1 username per query
- Boards Overview — all boards for an account (free plan previews 30%)
- Annotations — all annotation links with search volumes for 1 pin per query
How can I sort Board Search results?
After running a Board Search, use the Sort by buttons to reorder results by: Profile Reach (default — sorted by the board owner’s total reach), Owner Followers, Pin Count, or Last Modified date. Sorting by Profile Reach is the best way to find the most influential boards in any niche. How can I sort Search Pins results?
After running a Search Pins query, use the Sort by buttons to reorder results by: Engagement (total saves + repins + comments + reactions + shares), Saves, Repins, Comments, Reactions, Shares, or Created date. Sorting by Engagement shows you the highest-performing content for any keyword.

When do my 5 free uses reset each day?
Your daily usage count resets every 24 hours. The counter is shown at the top of the Pinlyt popup — for example “5/5 uses today” when you have your full daily allowance. Each tool has its own 5-use daily limit, so using Board Search doesn’t reduce your Search Pins count. Why do I only see 30% of boards in Boards Overview on the free plan?
The free plan shows a 30% preview of an account’s boards so you can evaluate the tool before upgrading. For example, if an account has 84 boards, you’ll see 25. Upgrading to any Pro plan unlocks 100% of boards and enables full CSV export. You’ll see an “Upgrade to see all X boards” prompt within the results when the limit applies. What's the difference between the free plan and Pro?

Technical
Pinlyt isn't showing any results. What should I do?
Try these steps in order:
- Make sure you have Pinterest open in your browser tab — Pinlyt reads data from the active Pinterest page.
- Refresh the Pinterest tab and try again.
- Click the Pinlyt icon and check if you’ve hit your 5 uses/day limit on the free plan — it will show “0/5 uses today”.
- Disable other browser extensions temporarily to rule out conflicts.
- If the problem persists, contact support with details of what you were searching and any error messages shown.
How do I update Pinlyt to the latest version?
Chrome updates extensions automatically in the background. To force an immediate update: open chrome://extensions in your browser, enable Developer Mode (top right toggle), then click “Update”. You can also check your installed version at the bottom of the Pinlyt popup next to the Pinlyt logo. How accurate and up-to-date is the data Pinlyt shows?
Pinlyt reads data directly from Pinterest at the time of your query — it’s not cached or stored. This means results are accurate at the moment you run them. Engagement metrics like saves and repins reflect Pinterest’s live data. Some Pinterest data (like annotations) may take time to update on Pinterest’s side after a pin is created. Can I use Pinlyt on multiple devices or Chrome profiles?
Yes — your Pro or Lifetime plan includes 5 licenses, and each license activates one Chrome profile. You can install Pinlyt on as many devices as you like, but each Chrome profile you activate Pro on uses one license. To activate on a new profile, open Pinlyt on that profile and enter your license key in the License screen. Why does Pinlyt need certain browser permissions?
Pinlyt requests permission to read data from Pinterest pages because it needs to access the publicly available pin, board, and user data rendered by Pinterest in your browser. It does not read data from any other websites, does not access your browsing history, and does not transmit data to third parties. All processing happens locally in your browser. The Pin Stats Overlay isn't appearing on pins. How do I fix it?
- Open Pinlyt → go to Settings tab → confirm “Show Metric Overlays” is toggled on.
- Make sure you’re on a Pinterest feed or search page (the overlay only activates on pages that display pin grids).
- Refresh the Pinterest tab after enabling the overlay.
- If it still doesn’t appear, try disabling and re-enabling the Pinlyt extension from chrome://extensions.
I've used all 5 licenses. Can I get more?
If you’ve activated all 5 licenses and need more, contact us — we can discuss options. You can also deactivate a license from an old or unused Chrome profile to free it up for a new one. Just reach out to support and we’ll help you manage your license allocation.
